Tree Top Trials COVID 19 Questions

Can I still do this under the current COVID 19 restrictions?

Yes – as we are an organised activity with a COVID 19 officer, they, along with the team, have implemented the necessary procedures to ensure your safety. 

Do I have to wear a mask?

Yes please for all over12s during harnessing up and training, including supervising parents, unless of course you are exempt.

All our instructors wear masks.

How do I know which course I should do?

Assess how adventurous and comfortable you are with heights. Please use the link below to choose a course.

Course picker

The booking system will not let me book as many tickets as I want?

Each time slot shows the availability remaining. The system will not let you book more than the available spaces.

The booking system will not let me book a child's ticket

The adult needs to be selected first.

Can I make a booking on the phone?

Unfortunately not, because our internet is so slow, the system times out by the time we take the card details or double charges.

Can I book on the day or just turn up?

At the moment bookings have to be made by 8pm the night before. This allows us to ensure we have the right ratios for social distancing.

I have monetary gift card, can I redeem it against an activity?

Yes, select the activity you want, fill in all your details, click on add to cart. You should now be on the page that asks for your card details. On the left side of the grey box where the total is shown in blue is an area that says “Apply a gift card” input in your gift card number. The system will take off the gift card amount from your total.

How do I redeem an Experience Gift Certificate?

Select the activity the Gift Experience is for and proceed to book as normal, once you have selected the tickets you want there is a box for each ticket that asks “Do you have an experience gift certificate?” Enter the voucher code.

Please note the codes are specific to tickets e.g if it is for Youth Pioneer ,( age 13-17), the system will ONLY accept it for a Pioneer Youth Ticket.

How do I redeem a Red Letter Day or Buy a Gift Voucher?

Unfortunately, this is a bit of a cumbersome process. Please send us a picture of your voucher including the long voucher code. We will redeem the voucher from Red-Letter or Buy a Gift, then send you one of our experience our certificates for the experience and you can book it online at your leisure.

I would like to book a party, how do I do this?

We have dedicated instructor party tickets for **4-6  children were an instructor with the group for the duration of the session 45 mins for explorer or 2 hours for Pioneer, instead of having adults take part at height.

**Limited availability for groups of up to 8  for at Explorer12 pm & 4.3.0m pm and for Pioneer 11.45 am & 4.15 pm.

  • No adults required to take part on the course at height
  • An instructor will stay with your group only for the duration of the session
  • No other groups will join this session
  • An adult MUST be present to HELP their children harness up and SUPERVISE them from the ground

We can offer a party food bag starting from £5.95  per person:

Freshly made sandwiches on White or Brown bread (Tuna, Cheese, Cheese& Ham, Ham), crisps, home-made baking such as Chocolate Brownie and OJ/Apple Juice or Water.

If youths are booked on to do the course themselves does an adult need to be there on the ground supervising?
Yes, an adult must be present on the ground to supervise any under 18 yrs participants.
Can a 16 year old be the participating and/or accompanying adult on the course for under 16s?
Unfortunately not, the participating and/or accompanying adult must be at least 18yrs.
Is it still on if it is raining?

Yes, rain does not affect the ability to do the course. The sessions are only cancelled due to thunder & lightening or high winds.

I have not received my waiver link ?

Why does long hair need to be tied up?

Due to slight chance of hair getting caught in PPE, K-hook and the zipline trolly we suggest having long hair in a ponytail as plaits can be uncomfortable while wearing a helmet.

What do I need to wear?

Long sleeve top, full length trousers and trainer type footwear.

Why do I have to take my jewellery off?
If it catches on the course and you fall, it will rip through your flesh.
I have fear of heights, which course should I do?

Explorer is 3m high (nearly the height of a single decker coach) – from age 5 – 12 yrs
5-8 yrs inclusive need 1 participating adult per 2 children

Pioneer is 3.5m-6m meters high (6m is as high as an average 2 story house) – from age 9 yrs
9-12 yrs inclusive need 1 participating adult per 2 children

Hero finishes at 14m high (as high 3 double decker buses) – from age 13 yrs
13-15 yrs inclusive need 1 participating adult per 2 children

Why do I see people climbing without a helmet?

Due to health & safety, the helmet needs to be removed during The Stoat Tree Climb due to the type of PPE (Auto belay device) that is used and there is a small risk of the helmet getting trapped on the handholds attached to the tree.

Can I take part if I have a disability?

Please call us to discuss as disability can mean a lot of things and we want to ensure you to have an enjoyable experience.

Is there anywhere I can get a coffee?

Yes, we have a takeaway and The Laird’s Table restaurant on site – Tel: 01560 600 003.

(please remember during COVID 19, the restaurant needs to be pre-booked).

Can I bring a picnic or my own food and use the gazebos?

Yes, you can bring a picnic, however, the picnic benches and tables are reserved for those consuming food and drink bought from the Estate only.

Are there any toilet facilities?

Yes.  The entrance is via the activity centre reception. Please remember to wear a face mask inside the building.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, of course. The dog must be kept on a lead and picked up after if required.

Do I have pay to watch?

No – we love you to follow them on the ground and encourage them, please stay outside the orange rope for your safety. Please note it is advised to have sensible footwear due to the type of pathways. Unfortunately the pathways are unsuitable for wheelchairs/mobility scooter.

From what age can my child do The Explorer course?

From age 5 year old, 5-7 year olds MUST have adult taking part at height per 2 children.

From what age can my child do The Explorer on their own?

From age 8 children can do Explorer on their own however an adult (over 18) must be present on the ground to supervise and help harness and connect onto the course.

My child is 7 but confident can they do The Explorer without an adult?

Unfortunately not as they will not be covered by our insurance and health & safety policy, 5-7 years old MUST have 1 participating adult per 2 children.

How do I book a party for my child aged between 5-7 yrs? Do adults need to take part?

Book a dedicated instructor party ticket for **4-6 kids adults don’t need to take part at height.

With this ticket, no other groups can book this time.

* availability for groups of up to 8 at 12 pm & 4.30 pm for Explorer.

An Instructor will be with your group for 45 mins from kitting up.

  • No adults required to take part on the course at height
  • An instructor will stay with your group only for the duration of the session
  • No other groups will join this session
  • An adult MUST be present to HELP their children harness up and SUPERVISE them from the ground

I want to book a party for my kids, do adults need to take part if they are 8 yrs and above?

You can either

  1. Book the session for **6 children, except 12.00 pm and 4.30 pm they have spaces for 8, therefore  8 spaces must be booked to ensure that no other group joins your party. Adults MUST be present to supervise.

OR

  1. Book a dedicated instructor party for **4-6 children, (see below)

** availability for groups of up to 8 at 12 pm & 4.3.0m pm for Explorer.

We have party tickets where you can pay for a dedicated instructor plus 4-6** children. Session reserved for your party only.

  • No adults required to take part on the course at height
  • An instructor will stay with your group only for the duration of the session
  • No other groups will join this session
  • An adult MUST be present to HELP their children harness up and SUPERVISE them from the ground

The booking system will not let me book a child?

The adult ticket needs to be selected first.

From what age can my child do The Pioneer Experience?

From age 9yrs.  9-12 year olds MUST have 1 adult taking part at height per 2 children.

From what age can my child do The Pioneer on their own?

Children from age 13 can do Pioneer on their own but an adult (over 18) must be present on the ground to supervise.

My child is 12 and very confident can they do The Pioneer Experience on their own?

Unfortunately not as they will not be covered by our insurance and health & safety policy. To do the Pioneer Experience on their own children need to be 13 at the time of the activity. Under 12s need 1 participating adult per 2 children.

How do I book a party for my kids, age 9-12 yrs?

An  Instructor will be with your group for 2 hours from kitting up.

1.  Book the session for **6 children, except 12.00 pm and 4.30 pm they have spaces for 8, therefore  8 spaces must be booked to ensure that no other group joins your party. Adults MUST be present to supervise.

OR

2. Book a dedicated instructor party for **4-6 children, (see below). This session is for your group only. An instructor stays with your group only for 2 hours from kitting up

Tree Top Trials High Ropes Hero Adventure

The booking system will not let me book a child?
The adult needs to be selected first.
I have never done anything like this but I want to do The Hero Experience?

We really wouldn’t recommend it as it is an arduous course, it is up to 3 hours long and the final zone starts with a 14m chimney climb and ends with 14m straight drop.

From what age can my child do The Hero Experience?

From age 13 yrs. 13-15-year-olds MUST have 1 adult taking part at height per 2 children.

From what age can my child do The Hero on their own?

Youths from age 16yrs can do Hero on their own but an adult (over 18) must be present on the ground and able to walk round with the group.

My child is 15 and very confident can they do The Hero Experience without an adult?

Unfortunately not as they will not be covered by our insurance and health & safety policy. To do the Hero Experience on their own children need to be 16 at the time of the activity. Under 16s MUST have 1 participating adult per 2 children.
